Council Member Kerri Howell

Kerri was elected to the Folsom City Council in November 1998.   She served as mayor in 2012 and 2013, and as vice mayor in 2002 and 2006.

She is a past chair and a current City representative on the Sacramento Transportation Authority.  She also chairs the Folsom-Sacramento-El Dorado County Rail JPA, is a member of the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District Board, the Sacramento Area Sewer District Board, Folsom Lake College Foundation Board, and is an active member of the Folsom Rotary Annes.

She served on the Planning Commission from 1994 to 1998, and has represented the City Council on the Folsom Library Foundation, the Sacramento Groundwater Authority, the Sacramento Placerville Transportation Corridor JPA and the Regional Water Authority.

In addition to her City Council activities, Kerri is also president of Atlantic Consultants, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in Civil and Corrosion Engineering consulting, located in Folsom. With a BS degree in Civil Engineering, and Professional Engineering Licenses in both Civil and Corrosion Engineering, she brings both her business and technical backgrounds to the City Council.

Kerri is also active in the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, the American Water Works Association and currently serves as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee to the Office of Pipeline Safety for transportation of hazardous liquids in pipelines. She has authored numerous technical papers on corrosion and corrosion control for pipelines, reinforced concrete bridges, and water and wastewater plant facilities.

Raised in the Boston area, Kerri moved to the Sacramento in 1980, after graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She moved to Folsom in 1985 with her husband Frank Buckley.  They have hosted a number of foreign exchange students from England, Brazil, Spain, South Africa, Ghana, Germany and Holland.

Kerri’s reasons for serving on the City Council include maintaining our quality of life and Folsom’s small town charm, balancing growth between business and residential development, and ensuring that the residents of Folsom are well represented in local government. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or ideas, please feel free to contact Kerri at 983-0675 or by e-mail at corrprincess@ardennet.com.
