Sports Court Resurfacing Project Begins

Sports courts at a number of the City’s parks are scheduled for resurfacing starting this week; the project continues through September 22. The project will restore the playability and longevity of the courts and vastly improve the overall appearance. While the resurfacing is taking place, some courts will be unavailable for use.

Join the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary Docent Team

Do you have a passion for animals, want to make a difference and have fun doing it? If you answered "Yes!" then consider joining the docent team.

We are training new docents to help host school tours, assist at special events, and help with other ongoing activities. At the conclusion of the training, students must show proficiency in knowledge of our animals and in leading tours.

How to register: First, call Sue at 916-715-8610 for a mandatory pre-registration phone interview and to learn more about the docent program. After your phone interview, register for the class with Folsom Parks & Recreation at http://webtrac.folsom.ca.us and complete a Zoo Sanctuary volunteer application.

Note: Docents must be at least age 21
Class code: 191044-01 Class fee: $40 (includes training materials)

Classes are held Mondays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Session begins February 13 and continues through March 20. Registration deadline is February 6.

2016 Amgen Tour of California Traffic, Parking and Festival Plans Announced

May 16, 2016 

America’s largest cycling race, the Amgen Tour of California, presented by AEG, will bring the excitement of professional cycling to Folsom on Friday, May 20. Folsom will host the men’s Stage 6, an individual time trial, and the women’s Stage 2, a team time trial. Folsom’s approximately 12-mile course will feature some of the city’s distinctive landmarks and natural amenities as riders start and finish in the Historic District, and travel over the Rainbow Bridge and Folsom Lake Crossing.
