Folsom’s 12th Annual Wayne Spence Veterans Parade begins at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in the Target/Home Goods parking lot on East Bidwell Street, and ends at City Lions Park near the Veterans Memorial.
Four veterans will share Grand Marshal duties this year – June Greig, PFC Marine Corps, who served in World War II; Willie Golden, Master Sergeant, Army, who served in Korea; Len Dobish, 1st Lieutenant, Army, who received a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam; and Don Currier, Brigadier General, Commander, CA Army National Guard, who served in Operation Desert Storm.
The parade theme is “Veterans – The Heart of America”. Entrants include marching bands, drill teams, veterans groups, and scout and youth groups. The judges review stand will be located at the end of the parade route at City Lions Park along Natoma Street.
Approximately 3,000 people are expected to line the parade route, which is the same route as in previous years. From Target, participants will travel on East Bidwell, Coloma and Natoma streets to City Lions Park adjacent to Folsom Public Library. Those roads will be closed to non-parade traffic during the parade.
