Share your thoughts about Folsom’s vital East Bidwell corridor – from the Historic District to Highway 50 – during a public open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18. The City is using a Caltrans grant to study options and develop a plan to guide future development and transportation improvements along East Bidwell.
The Public Open House will be held at the Folsom Lake College Community Room, 10 College Parkway. There will be a presentation at 6 p.m. followed by a question and answer period.
“Public involvement is critical to the success of the study and we encourage residents and business owners to engage in the process,” says Planning Manager Scott Johnson. “The open house workshop will include an opportunity to talk one-on-one with project team members, view displays and learn more about the future of the corridor.”
East Bidwell Street is a heavily utilized transportation and commercial corridor that bisects the City and provides a direct link between the Historic District and US Highway 50. The roadway also connects key areas including the Central Business District, Creekside medical/healthcare facilities, Folsom Lake College, Broadstone and Palladio.
“We are looking at ways to improve the livability and sustainability of the corridor,” says Johnson. “ The study will emphasize accommodating all forms of transportation, from pedestrian to transit, to encourage economic development, preserve the environment and maintain Folsom’s quality of life.”
