Richard Lorenz, a 24-year City employee, serves as Folsom’s Director of Public Works and Utilities and City Engineer.  He joined the City as a Senior Civil Engineer in 1988, and was later promoted to Assistant Public Works Director and then to Public Works Director in 2000.  His position expanded to include Utilities in 2010. 

Rich graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  He is a Registered Professional Traffic Engineer and a Registered Professional Civil Engineer, and is a member of the American Public Works Association and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.  His previous experience includes working for the City of Fairfield as a Traffic Engineer and Land Development Engineer. 

Rich and his wife Kari have three adult sons.  They reside in Folsom.
