SENIORS HELPING SENIORS PROGRAM
Thank you for your interest in the City of Folsom Seniors Helping Seniors Program. The primary purpose of this program is to assist senior citizen homeowners whose properties need minor repairs and who do not have the financial resources to complete the repairs.
WHAT KINDS OF REPAIRS CAN BE DONE?
The intent of the program is to make minor repairs to correct health and safety deficiencies which may include but are not limited to:
- Minor plumbing and electrical repairs
- Hard to reach light bulb replacement
- Fix or replace door locks
- Replace furnace filters
WHO WILL PERFORM THE WORK?
Most work will be performed by a qualified senior tradesman; however, there may be times in which licensed and insured contractor will be required to perform the work.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR HELP?
To be eligible for assistance, applicants must have an income that falls under the state income guidelines established by the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Specifically, the applicant’s income cannot exceed 80% of Median Area Income for Sacramento County. Please call the Seniors Helping Seniors Coordinator if you have any questions about income qualifications.
Residence must be owner-occupied by a senior citizen 65 years of age or older or 55 years of age or older if the homeowner has a verifiable disability.
Properties must be located within the City of Folsom.
Applicants will generally be served on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if the availability of funds becomes limited or multiple applications are submitted simultaneously, priority will be given to those homeowners with the greatest health and safety need.
