Seniors Helping Seniors Program

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS

Time and Place for Submission of Qualifications

Firms interested in providing the services requested in this RFQ shall closely examine the specific  requirements and questions and submit four (4) bound copies of their proposals in a sealed envelope to:

City of Folsom

Community Development Department – 2nd Floor

Folsom, CA 95630

 

All submittals must be received no later than 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 11 , 2012. If the submittal is late, incomplete, or lacking in the number of copies required, that firm may be eliminated from consideration. Postmarks, e-mails, and faxes will not be accepted.

Pre-Submittal Meeting

A Pre-Submittal meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the City of Folsom, 50 Natoma Street, Community Development Conference Room - 2nd Floor, Folsom, CA 95630. The Pre-Submittal meeting is not mandatory; however, firms interested in submitting their qualifications are encouraged to attend.

SENIORS HELPING SENIORS PROGRAM

Thank you for your interest in the City of Folsom Seniors Helping Seniors Program. The primary purpose of this program is to assist senior citizen homeowners whose properties need minor repairs and who do not have the financial resources to complete the repairs.

 

WHAT KINDS OF REPAIRS CAN BE DONE?

The intent of the program is to make minor repairs to correct health and safety deficiencies which may include but are not limited to:

  • Minor plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Hard to reach light bulb replacement
  • Fix or replace door locks
  • Replace furnace filters

WHO WILL PERFORM THE WORK?

Most work will be performed by a qualified senior tradesman; however, there may be times in which licensed and insured contractor will be required to perform the work.

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR HELP?

Income

To be eligible for assistance, applicants must have an income that falls under the state income guidelines established by the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Specifically, the applicant’s income cannot exceed 80% of Median Area Income for Sacramento County. Please call the Seniors Helping Seniors Coordinator if you have any questions about income qualifications.

 

Property Type
Residence must be owner-occupied by a senior citizen 65 years of age or older or 55 years of age or older if the homeowner has a verifiable disability.


Location

Properties must be located within the City of Folsom.

 

APPLICANT PRIORITY

Applicants will generally be served on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if the availability of funds becomes limited or multiple applications are submitted simultaneously, priority will be given to those homeowners with the greatest health and safety need.
