On October 26, 2010, the Folsom City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1133 which adopted the 2009 International Fire Code with the 2010 State of California amendments, also known as the California Fire Code. The 2011 Folsom Fire Code will be effective January 1, 2011. The complete ordinance can be accessed by clicking on the link below. After January 1, 2011 the provisions will be included in the Folsom Municipal Code.
There are two significant additions in the 2011 Folsom Fire Code. The first is the inclusion of passive-purge in residential fire sprinkler systems that are required by the 2010 California Residential Code. This amendment was made in order to comply with Federal and State water quality standards that are enforced by the City's Utilities Department without requiring redundant back flow prevention devices. The second addition is the inclusion of the State Fire Marshal guidelines for the installation of roof mounted photovoltaic systems. This amendment was made in order to ensure firefighter safety as well as the health and safety of the public.
