A Folsom Builder: Giuseppe Murer and the Murer House

Builder, entrepreneur and Renaissance man Giuseppe Murer immigrated from Italy in 1906 and became one of Folsom's leading citizens, constructing many notable buildings in Old Town.  His Murer House, considered one of the best examples of Italianate architecture in the area, is now a center for teaching and appreciation of Italian culture.  Join us for a presentation by Cindy Baker, Murer House Foundation Board Chair, about this fascinating aspect of Folsom heritage.
U.S. Citizenship Workshop

Topics covered in this free session include the naturalization process, the new naturalization test, and the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship. Taught by U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services for legal permanent residents and interested naturalization applicants.  No registration required.

Join the Folsom Film Society for a special screening of Wes Anderson’s award-winning adventure drama, which premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival to universal acclaim.  Set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s, the film tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall in love and are moved to run away together.  “Warm, whimsical, and poignant, the immaculately framed and beautifully acted Moonrise Kingdom presents writer/director Wes Anderson at his idiosyncratic best.”   - Rotten Tomatoes.  Rated PG-13.

The Library's Conversation Club is a fun, relaxed place for adults learning English to practice talking with native speakers. Join us to improve your English, learn about American culture, and meet new friends. Drop in for a chat; no registration is required and all levels are welcome. Evening and morning sessions are available - come to one or both in the Library Meeting Room!

Join other readers at the Folsom Public Library for lively, monthly book discussions. Meetings held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. or join the afternoon discussion on the third Thursday of the month at 1 - 2 p.m.
