CALVET VETERANS SERVICES
California Department of Veteran Affairs - administers special programs, benefits and services for California veterans and their families.

Reintegration form - Get connected with your benefits after discharge.

Citrus Heights Vet Center - Provides a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families


VFW Post 6604 Folsom, California - Local veterans helping veterans through relief funds as well as assisting with information and comradeship.

California Veterans Education Opportunities Partnership - Assistance in making the transition from military service to college.

Non-Resident College Fee Waiver - Allows out-of-state veterans to pay the California resident rates at all CSU, UC or community colleges in California.

VA Work Study Program - Assists those receiving veterans education benefits. An individual under this program may work in several fields outlined by the program while attending college courses.

EMPLOYMENT
State Employment

CalVet Job Announcements - A listing of jobs available by job title and filing deadline.
 

Employment Development Department - Provide unemployment insurance, access to job fairs, and specialized job training.

CalVet Examination Announcements - A listing of local and state examinations. Some examination scores may be required for specific county or state jobs.

Veterans' Preference Points - Application for preference points. Five to fifteen points can be added to the final score of qualifying examinations for veterans and family members based on their status.

Cal Jobs - A centralized database of available jobs and job postings. Veterans are provided a 24-hour priority hold on all job postings, assistance in job searches and job fairs.

Federal Employment

Feds Hire Vets - Recruitment and employment of veterans.

USA Jobs - Find jobs in the federal government. Many veterans already have security clearance and technical skills required for some government positions.

Travis Fisher House - Fisher House helps military families in need where they can stay without charge when one of its members is hospitalized.

Veterans Healthcare - Health benefits and resources for veterans.

Veterans homes for aging or disabled veterans - CalVet Homes provide rehabilitative, residential and medical care for aging and disabled veterans.

McClellan Dental Clinic - Sacramento - Dental services to eligible veterans.

McClellan Outpatient Clinic - Sacramento - Primary care, laboratory, pharmacy, mammography, optometry, radiology, prosthetics, exams and women's health services.

Sacramento Mental Health Clinic at Mather - A comprehensive medical facility providing rehabilitative, surgical, medical and mental health services.

PTSD/TBI

National Center for PTSD - National site for resources on PTSD treatment, programs, and locating local medical centers that treat PTSD.

The Pathway Home - Comprehensive treatment for veterans impacted by post traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and other post-combat mental health challenges.

VA Northern California Health Care System - Provides local services, including group psychotherapy, medication management, substance abuse treatment and a PTSD treatment program.

Homeless Prevention Programs

HUD-VASH (Housing Choice Vouchers and Rental Assistance) - Assistance for low-income or impoverished families in finding rental homes or housing under the HUD program.

National Coalition for Homeless Veterans - Connects veterans with local shelters and resource centers across the country.

Next Move (formerly known as Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center) - Provides short-term emergency housing for two-parent families, single-parent families and single women.

Twin Lakes Food BankProvides services including food, clothing, resources and essential supplies for everyday living. Serving the communities of Folsom, Orangevale, El Dorado Hills & Granite Bay.

Real Estate benefits

Veterans home loans - Apply for a CalVet home loan, with veterans benefits, including low-interest rates, low down payment and home and loan protection plans.

Veterans Property Tax Exemption - Eligible veterans receive an exemption on all or part of their property taxes.

WOMEN VETERANS
Federal Center for Women Veterans - The main federal website for women veterans including information on health, memorials, and community engagement.

Women's Trauma Recovery Program - Focuses on women veterans with PTSD and other post-combat mental health challenges.
