What is Business Watch?
Business Watch is a voluntary and complimentary program offered by the Folsom Police Department to local businesses. It is a proactive crime prevention program that establishes a formal communication network between local businesses, merchants, and the Folsom Police Department.
Folsom Police Department employees and the Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS) Volunteers will provide staffing to assist with the services of this program.
Modeled after the very successful Neighborhood Watch concept, the Business Watch program is designed to facilitate a relationship among business owners, employees, property managers, and law enforcement.
An educational Business Watch Handbook is available which contains crime prevention information to assist business owners and managers in training employees how to recognize suspicious activity and report crimes.
Most criminals are opportunists. As a business owner or manager, you can reduce your risk of loss due to commercial crime by being proactive rather than reacting after the fact.
By joining Business Watch, you are taking an important step toward reducing criminal activity in and around your business in the most effective way - before it begins.
Business Watch enables the business community to take an active role in reducing crime, by raising awareness about commercial crime trends. You will have the opportunity to participate in crime prevention training, and share current community information, via Nixle and other social media resources.
Getting to know the people in neighboring businesses and forming a community that looks out for each other, significantly impacts law enforcement's ability to maintain safer business establishments and commercial complexes.
Business Watch will offer members periodic newsletters and training seminars aimed at crime prevention.
