The Folsom Police Department's Youth Program consists of the following elements:
School/Law Enforcement Partnership: Public schools within the community have an open door policy that allows Folsom Police Officers to visit the campuses at will.
Elementary school program: Bicycle safety rodeos and classroom presentations focusing on drug, gang & violence prevention.
Teacher education program: Helps teachers recognize signs of drug and gang affiliation in their students. The information is delivered by the juvenile officer and the vice principal from the high school.
Folsom Police Explorer Program: The Folsom Police Department is looking for motivated young men and women, between the ages of 14-20, who are interested in a career in law enforcement. The Explorer Program provides an opportunity for individuals to be exposed to uniformed patrol, dispatch, community services officer, records, detectives, and crime scene investigation. This is a great way to volunteer and give back to your community, while receiving academy style training related to the law enforcement field.
