The City’s park naming policy requires that new parks be named after an individual or family that has played a key role in the development of Folsom; has acquired local, state or national recognition for service or achievement, or has contributed to the enhancement of the community by participation on local boards, commissions or civic organizations.
“It’s important that the nominations clearly and completely explain how the person meets the criteria,” says Parks and Recreation Director Robert Goss. “A sub-committee of the Parks and Recreation Commission will review all nominations before the Commission submits a recommendation to the Folsom City Council.”
Nominations must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation Department between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31. Contact Senior Park Planner Jim Simpson at email@example.com with questions about the nomination process.
The new park is expected to open in 2016. It will feature fields for soccer and lacrosse; tennis, basketball or volleyball courts; a picnic area, restrooms and parking.
