A daytime closure on Folsom-Auburn Road is planned for tomorrow to allow for a critical removal of a tree that poses safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians. Tomorrow, SMUD crews will remove a gray pine tree that is leaning at a 45 degree angle over traffic lanes, with power and phone lines that run through the tree’s canopy. The City’s Public Works Department is coordinating the road closure.
The closure will occur between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. All southbound lanes will be closed, and northbound lanes will remain open with construction zone speed limits in effect. A short detour route has been established, and flaggers will direct traffic. Message signs were installed to notify motorists in advance of the closure.
