The City of Folsom Finance Department has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The City’s comprehensive FY 2013-14 annual financial report (CAFR) earned the City of Folsom this designation, marking the 24th consecutive year Folsom has received the award. This is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate members of the community to read the CAFR.
The City of Folsom has also received the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 13 consecutive years. This award recognizes effective budget presentations, and how the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. The GFOA is a nonprofit association representing nearly 18,000 government finance professionals throughout North America.
