Fall is a Great Time to Save Water Indoors

Fall is here, bringing cooler days, shorter daylight hours and even some wet weather. When it's raining, conserving water may be the last thing that comes to mind. Yet, even normal or above-average snow and rainfall this winter is unlikely to erase four years of dry conditions.While we take a break from watering the lawn (letting Mother Nature water for us), now is a great time consider how to conserve water indoors.

  • Install high-efficiency appliances such as toilets, showerheads, faucets, dishwashers and clothes washers
  • Limit showers to five minutes or less
  • Check plumbing and appliances for leaks and fix them within 48 hours
  • Run the clothes washer and dishwasher only when full
  • Turn off water when brushing teeth or shaving
