The Folsom City Council selected Andy Morin as mayor and Kerri Howell as vice mayor at the Dec. 12 City Council meeting. The one-year terms are effective immediately.
“I am humbled and grateful to serve again as Folsom’s mayor,” said Morin. “I look forward to working with my fellow Councilmembers and a team of more than 400 dedicated city employees for the betterment of our city.”
Morin has served on the Folsom City Council since 2002, including four terms as mayor and two terms as vice mayor. Morin is a board member for the Folsom-El Dorado Joint Powers Authority, the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District, the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission, the Sacramento Area Sewer District Board and is vice chair of the Sacramento Regional Transit District. Morin previously served on the Folsom Planning Commission and Folsom Public Library Foundation. He was also chair of the Measure C School Bond Campaign and served on the Folsom Schools Bond Oversight Committee.
Andy is a senior hydrologist for the National Weather Service. He also co-owns and operates Susie’s Country Oaks Restaurants in Roseville and Granite Bay. Morin and his wife Kathy moved to Folsom in 1988. They have two grown sons.
Howell has served on the City Council since 1998. She was mayor in 2012 and 2014, and vice mayor in 2002 and 2006. She is a past and current chair representing Folsom on the Sacramento Transportation Authority Governing Board and chair of the Folsom-Sacramento-El Dorado County Rail Joint Powers Authority.
She has served as chair and a member of the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District Board, and the Sacramento Area Sewer District Board, Folsom Lake College Foundation Board, the Sacramento Groundwater Authority and the Regional Water Authority, and is an active member of the Folsom Rotary Annes. She served on the Planning Commission from 1994 to 1998, and has represented the City Council on the Folsom Library Foundation. Howell is the president of Atlantic Consultants, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in civil and corrosion engineering consulting. She has been a resident of Folsom since 1984.
