Tips on Trail Safety from the Folsom Police Department

Folsom is home to an extensive trail system, with more than 45 miles of trails for walkers, runners and cyclists. As you enjoy Folsom’s multiuse trails this spring, the Folsom Police Department offers a few safety tips to remember before you head out.

Bicyclists

Keep to the right side of the trail

Yield to pedestrians

Pass on the left side of oncoming pedestrians/joggers

Ride at a safe speed; single-file in congested conditions or in areas with reduced visibility

Pedestrians

Keep to the left side of the trail (facing oncoming cyclists)

Watch for other trail users

Maintain single-file in congested conditions and in areas with reduced visibility

Residents are encouraged to join the Folsom Police Department’s Dog Walker Watch and help prevent crime on the trails. This special program trains residents who use trails and pathways regularly on how to spot and report suspicious activity.
