With changing drought conditions, the State Water Resources Control Board approved a resolution that removes its mandatory conservation mandates and allows water agencies to set conservation targets based on local supply and demand. Effective immediately, the City of Folsom is moving from a Stage 3 to Stage 1 conservation level, removing restrictions on day of the week watering. In spite of improving conditions, Folsom water customers are encouraged to voluntarily reduce water consumption by 10 percent, compared with 2013 water usage.
A one-year rehabilitation project on the Historic Orangevale Avenue Bridge will begin next week, allowing crews to make significant structural improvements on the century-old bridge that connects Folsom and Orangevale. Beginning Tuesday, May 31, the Orangevale Avenue Bridge will be closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians for up to nine months.
