Make a Splash! May is National Water Safety Month

Post Date:05/12/2025 10:59 a.m.

May is National Water Safety Month, and the Folsom Parks & Recreation Department encourages residents to stay safe while enjoying the many water activities available in the community. As temperatures rise and more people head to the water to cool off, it’s important to take steps to prevent drowning and promote safe practices by following the ABCs of water safety:

  • Active Adult Supervision
  • Barriers Around Pools
  • Classes for Swim Lessons and CPR

According to the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, more than 379 children under the age of 15 drown in pools or spas each year. Water safety is a shared responsibility—whether it’s a backyard pool, portable pool, lake, or river, everyone plays a role in keeping children and families safe.
