Join the Folsom Community Emergency Response Team

The Folsom Fire Department invites community members to become a vital part of the city’s emergency response by volunteering with the Community Emergency Response Team.

During major incidents in Folsom and the surrounding areas, CERT volunteers provide critical support to first responders, including firefighters and police officers. They also help educate the community about disaster preparedness and emergency response.

HOW TO JOIN

The first step to becoming a CERT volunteer is to complete the CERT Academy training. This comprehensive program covers:

  • Assisting family and neighbors before emergency personnel arrive.
  • Disaster preparedness.
  • First aid and basic medical operations.
  • Light search and rescue techniques.
  • Emergency response planning. After completing the training and passing a background check, participants may be eligible to serve as CERT volunteers.

UPCOMING TRAINING DATES

  • Thursday, August 28, 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 25, 6 to 9:30 p.m.
