Post Date:09/09/2025 8:17 a.m.On Monday, September 8, 2025, at approximately 5:26 p.m., the City of Folsom Fire Department responded to reports of smoke from a residential structure on River Ridge Way. Firefighters were updated that the residence was occupied by a barricaded and suicidal subject. This complicated the response and presented additional risks to the public. A Unified Command was immediately established between the Folsom Fire and Police Departments to coordinate operations. Due to the significant safety threat posed by the barricaded subject, a defensive fire strategy was implemented. Firefighters and police officers worked together to place hose streams at a safe distance from the building to protect the exposure homes and prevent the fire from spreading. Approximately 35 minutes after the initial dispatch, the fire broke through the roof and engulfed most of the structure, but adjacent homes remained protected. Approximately two hours after the initial dispatch, the fire was contained to the house of origin with no other structures lost. Full News ReleaseReturn to full list >>
