The Folsom City Council will continue its multi-stage budget process at the October 14 meeting, where the Council will consider additional cost-saving strategies to address the city’s projected $3 million General Fund shortfall for Fiscal Year 2025-26.

This second phase will focus on service reorganizations within Community Development, Parks & Recreation, Public Works, and Environmental and Water Resources departments. Staff will present proposals for reducing costs through staffing adjustments and the use of special revenue funds. No additional layoffs are anticipated in this phase.

At the September 23 meeting, the Council approved the first phase of cost-saving measures, including staff reductions, service reorganizations, and fire department staffing and equipment realignments that will save $3.1 million this year. The Council also discussed the $1.6 million annual subsidy for the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary and directed staff to explore alternative management options.

The October 14 meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Folsom City Hall, 50 Natoma Street. Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more, and share input on city services and priorities.
