The changes streamline approvals for minor exterior renovations, additions, and signage by allowing staff-level review for projects that do not affect designated historic properties. This shift will reduce costs and processing times for homeowners and small businesses.

The ordinance also improves public notification by requiring mailed notices to nearby property owners and posting project information online. Updates include new height limits for accessory buildings, refined demolition procedures, and extended project approval timelines.

The revised ordinance aligns with the city’s 2035 General Plan and supports efforts to protect Folsom’s historic and cultural resources while maintaining the district’s small-town charm.
