Ready… Set… Sloooow! The Great Folsom Snail Race returns as part of the City of Folsom’s 80th birthday celebration on Saturday, May 9 at Folsom City Lions Park.
This fun, family-friendly tradition invites kids, residents, and businesses to enter their fastest snail for a chance to win prizes and Folsom bragging rights. All participants will receive a commemorative Snail Race T-shirt.
Races take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with preliminary heats leading to quarterfinals and beyond.
Special competitions include:
- Best Presentation
- Best Named
- Best Dressed Snail Handler
Launched in 1981, the Great Folsom Snail Race became a favorite community tradition, bringing together families, businesses, and local leaders throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Snail race registration is $50, with proceeds supporting the Folsom Athletic Association’s “Never in Our Town” Youth Assistance Program, helping ensure all youth have the opportunity to participate in recreational sports.
