• The green bin is for organics, including food scraps, food-soiled paper collected in a clear plastic or compostable bag, and loose yard waste. This keeps waste out of landfills, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and creates valuable material for composting.
• The blue bin is for recyclables, including plastic bottles, jugs, and tubs; paper and cardboard; glass bottles and jars; aluminum and tin cans; and small metal items. These materials are processed and made into new products.
