Folsom-Placerville Rail Trail Design Moves Ahead

Post Date:05/22/2026 3:29 p.m.

The Folsom-Placerville Rail Trail project is moving another step closer to construction. At its May 12 meeting, the Folsom City Council approved a consultant services agreement with R.E.Y. Engineers Inc. for final design and engineering work on a planned 1.25-mile Class I bicycle and pedestrian trail segment. The trail will extend from the Humbug-Willow Creek Trail near Creekside Drive and Oak Avenue Parkway to Iron Point Road, with much of the route running parallel to East Bidwell Street and the Sacramento Placerville Transportation Corridor (SPTC) railroad tracks.

The project has secured more than $3.18 million in federal, state, and local funding to date. Construction contracts will return to the City Council after the final design phase is complete.
