Folsom’s lakes, trails, and outdoor spaces make it a destination for year-round recreation, and a new campaign is helping more people discover one of the city’s standout experiences: paddling.
Visit Folsom, Choose Folsom, and the City of Folsom have launched the “Paddling Capital of the West” campaign to raise awareness of Folsom’s wide range of on-water opportunities, from kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to rowing, dragon boating, and guided paddling experiences.
Folsom offers two distinct paddling settings in one destination. Lake Natoma features calm, protected waters with a 5-mph speed limit, making it a welcoming place for beginners, families, and experienced paddlers. Nearby Folsom Lake offers a larger, open-water setting for longer outings, exploration, and more adventurous paddling.
The campaign highlights local launch points, rentals, safety resources, instruction, and paddling events that make it easier for residents and visitors to get on the water. The campaign also connects visitors with the full Folsom experience, including the Historic District, local dining, shopping, and more than 60 miles of trails.
