The Folsom City Council approved an agreement at its May 26 meeting to begin site planning and environmental assessment work for a future Corporation Yard south of Highway 50.

The action is an important step toward planning a modern operations hub that will support essential city services as Folsom grows. The current City of Folsom Corporation Yard on Leidesdorff Street was built in the 1960s and houses key street maintenance and operations divisions, solid waste, fleet services, and portions of utilities. The 14-acre site also serves as a primary location for equipment and operations during emergency response.

The future 36-acre site is located south of the Capital Southeast Connector and bordered to the south and west by the newly aligned Scott Road. Planning will focus on long-term service needs, operational efficiency, sustainability, safety, and emergency readiness.

The approved agreement with Griffin Structures, Inc. includes staffing and space projections through 2050, utility coordination, a site survey, conceptual site alternatives, cost comparisons, environmental documentation, and grant funding support.

This work is the first step in a thoughtful, long-range process to plan a Corporation Yard that supports high-quality public services for decades to come.
