Longer days and warmer weather mean more time on the water. The Folsom Fire Department reminds the community to stay safe while enjoying Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma, and the American River.
Important safety tips:
- Always wear a properly fitted life jacket.
- Check water conditions and weather before heading out.
- Swim with a buddy. Never swim alone.
- Stay clear of boat traffic and unknown depths.
- Avoid alcohol while in or near the water.
- Learn CPR. It could save a life.
- Plan ahead, and stay alert to help prevent accidents.
The Folsom Fire Department offers free life jacket rentals for all ages. Life jackets are available at Fire Station 35, 535 Glenn Drive, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 916-461-6301 or visit www.folsom.ca.us/fire.
