Before lighting a fuse, know the risks. Illegal fireworks are prohibited in Folsom and can result in fines of up to $5,000 per violation. They also pose a serious threat to neighborhoods, open space, and public safety, especially during the dry summer months.
The City of Folsom has a zero-tolerance policy for illegal fireworks. Folsom Police and Fire personnel dedicated to fireworks enforcement will actively patrol neighborhoods throughout the holiday and use drones to help identify violations, protect neighborhoods, and reduce fire danger.
- Violations are subject to fines of up to $5,000.
- Each violation may be cited separately.
- Property owners who use illegal fireworks, or allow others to use illegal fireworks on their property, may be fined $1,000 under the City's social host ordinance.
- Calls for service increase significantly on the Fourth of July. Please reserve 9-1-1 for true emergencies, such as fires, injuries, or immediate threats to people or property.
