FOLSOM, CA — July 15, 2026 — The Folsom Fire Department responded to a fast-moving, multi-structure fire early this morning that heavily damaged one home and the exterior and attic of another, and resulted in a minor injury to a Folsom firefighter.

The Sacramento Regional Fire Emergency Communications Center dispatched crews to a reported fire in the area of Dunstable Way and Wellfleet Circle at 1:10 a.m. Upon arrival, initial fire crews encountered heavy flames involving multiple outbuildings. The fire quickly spread from an outbuilding to two homes. A second alarm was ordered, bringing additional resources to the scene. One home was heavily damaged, while the other home sustained damage to the exterior and attic.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and contained the 2 fires at 2:03 a.m. and 2:13 a.m.
While one home was heavily damaged, firefighters were able to limit spread to the second home's exterior and attic, saving all personal belongings and property inside.

There are no civilian injuries or fatalities to report. One Folsom firefighter sustained a minor injury during the incident and was transported to Mercy Hospital Folsom for treatment and evaluation. They have since been released.

The homeowner on Dunstable Way reported being unable to locate a pet cat. Crews searched the area, but the pet remains unable to be located at this time.

Arson investigators are currently conducting an active investigation into the origin of the fire. The cause remains undetermined at this time.

Arriving conditions observed by firefighters combined with witness statements suggest that the fire started between the two homes.
A total of 48 firefighters were brought to the scene. The Folsom Fire Department would like to thank our regional partners at El Dorado Hills Fire Department and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District for the mutual and automatic aid response. Additionally, the Folsom Police Department also helped with evacuations, scene security and traffic control.
