On the evening of July 16, 2026, a Sacramento area strike team of wildland fire engines returned home safely after a four-day deployment to the Loomis Fire in Lassen County.

The strike team was dispatched on July 11 at approximately 8:00 p.m. under an "immediate need" request, requiring rapid assembly and travel to assist CAL FIRE's Lassen-Modoc Unit. Led by a Strike Team Leader from the Folsom Fire Department and a Strike Team Leader Trainee from the Sacramento Fire Department, the team arrived overnight and was successfully integrated into the July 12.

Incident Action Plan.

The strike team consisted of resources from five regional agencies:
Folsom Fire Department
Sacramento Fire Department
West Sacramento Fire Department
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire)
Manteca Fire Department

Upon arrival, crews were immediately assigned to the fire line. Working side by side with numerous strike teams from across Northern California, their primary objective was to reinforce hand lines established by CAL FIRE hand crews the previous night, plumb the perimeter with hose, and prevent any breach of the containment lines. Despite forecasted extreme weather conditions, the aggressive, collaborative efforts of the firefighters successfully held the fire within its existing footprint. Following four days of assignment and the passing of the critical weather threat, CAL FIRE demobilized the strike team. All personnel and apparatus returned safely to their departments by the evening of July 16. With another active fire season underway, the Folsom Fire Department remains fully staffed and prepared to protect our local community while continuing our commitment to the California Master Mutual Aid System.
