Join the Folsom Emergency Response Team

Post Date:07/31/2026 12:12 p.m.

The Folsom Fire Department invites community members to become a vital part of the city’s emergency preparedness efforts by volunteering with the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

During major incidents in Folsom and the surrounding region, CERT volunteers provide critical support to first responders and help educate the community about disaster preparedness and emergency response.

The first step to becoming a CERT volunteer is completing the CERT Academy, a free training program that teaches essential emergency preparedness and response skills, including:

  • Disaster preparedness
  • Emergency response planning
  • First aid and basic medical operations
  • Light search and rescue techniques
  • Assisting family members and neighbors before emergency personnel arrive

Training begins in September. After completing the training and passing a background check, participants may be eligible to serve as CERT volunteers. The CERT Academy is free and open to participants age 18 and older. Preference is given to individuals who live or work in Folsom. To learn more or register for the CERT Academy, email contact@folsomcert.org or visit academy.folsomcert.org
