As students head back to school, more e-bikes, e-scooters, and other electric vehicles will be sharing Folsom's roads. Whether riding to school, meeting up with friends, or getting around town, make sure to know the rules of the road.
- Class 1 and 2 e-bikes: Maximum speed is 20 mph. Riders under 18 must wear a helmet.
- Class 3 e-bikes: Maximum speed is 28 mph. Riders must be at least 16, and helmets are required for everyone.
- E-scooters: Riders must be at least 16 and have a valid driver's license or permit. The speed limit is 15 mph, passengers are not allowed, and e-scooters cannot be ridden on sidewalks.
- Mopeds and electric motorcycles: May require a driver's license, registration, a license plate, and a Department of Transportation-approved helmet. These vehicles are not allowed on bike trails.
