The 13th Annual Community Service Day returns on Saturday, September 19. Thousands of volunteers will complete dozens of service projects to make a positive, lasting impact throughout Folsom. The event is organized by the City of Folsom, local businesses, and community organizations.
Volunteer registration is now open. Projects include:
- Citywide Food Drive
- School Landscape and Beautification Projects
- Military Care Package Packing Event
- Hazel McFarland Park Mulch and Beautification Project
- Folsom’s Hope Campus Beautification Project
- Trail Stencilling Project
- Folsom Historic District Association Projects
- Folsom Bike Park Maintenance Project
Volunteers must register in advance at www.folsom.ca.us/communityserviceday.
Volunteer check-in takes place at Lakeside Church, 745 Oak Avenue Parkway, between 7 and 8 a.m. All volunteers will receive a complimentary T-shirt, volunteer bag, and breakfast. Most projects take place between 9 a.m. and noon.
Folsom's Community Service Day also includes a citywide food drive for Twin Lakes Food Bank. Hundreds of volunteers have dropped off empty grocery bags and a food needs wish list at homes throughout Folsom. Volunteers will return on the morning of Saturday, September 19, to pick up food donations left in view of the street by 8 a.m.
A donation drive will also take place during Community Service Day. Community members and volunteers are encouraged to drop off bicycles, eyeglasses, yarn and fabric, suitcases, toys, purses and personal essentials, pet food and supplies, hygiene products and clothing, holiday gift wrapping supplies, coats, school supplies, books, and special occasion dresses from 8 a.m. to noon in front of Lakeside Church.
Vitalant will host a Community Service Day Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Folsom Fire Station 35, 535 Glenn Drive. Schedule an appointment in advance or walk in as space allows. All donors will receive a Vitalant donor T-shirt. Schedule an appointment online, and call Vitalant at 877-258-4825 for eligibility questions.
