Council Member Roger Gaylord III

Roger Gaylord III was elected to the Folsom City Council in November 2016.

Roger is proud to call Folsom home and has been a resident for 24 years. He is very active in the Folsom community and has established several grassroots charity initiatives including Layaway Angels, an annual Folsom Cordova Unified School District teacher gift card program, and fundraising initiatives for residents in need.

Roger previously served on the City of Folsom Utility Commission, and currently represents the City of Folsom on various boards and commissions including the Sacramento Municipal Air Quality Control Board of Directors, Folsom Tourism and Economic Development Corporation, “two by two” meetings with Folsom Cordova Unified School District officials, Sacramento Area Council of Governments, and the Capital Southeast Connector Joint Powers Authority.

Roger’s most notable accomplishments since elected have been championing Measure C, which amended the Folsom City Charter to impose term limits on the Folsom City Council. During the 2018 General Plan update, Roger advocated for the inclusion of modern technology in future development processes.

Roger’s first experience in city government was as a senior at Folsom High School. A professional inline skater at the time, Roger advocated for a community skate park in Folsom. During this time, he gained his first entrepreneur experience successfully establishing his online retail skate shop Solution Skates, which started as his Folsom High School senior project. Roger successfully operated Solution Skates for several years after.

Today, Roger is a national security expert, providing loss prevention, asset protection, and fire life safety solutions to retail businesses, government agencies, and higher education institutions across the United States. He has a certification in California Fire Life Safety.

Roger’s educational background is in criminal justice. He earned his PC832 Arrest and Firearms Certificate from Folsom Lake College, and he is a Folsom High School graduate, class of 2001. Roger and his wife have two children. Both children attend schools in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District.

Roger is committed to ensuring he is accessible for the residents and businesses of Folsom, and connecting and engaging with residents in real time via social media.
