Mayor Sarah Aquino


Sarah Aquino was elected to the Folsom City Council in November 2018 and was chosen by her colleagues to serve as Vice Mayor in 2019 and Mayor in 2020.  Prior to her election to the Council, Sarah served four years as a member of the Board of Education for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District.

She currently represents the city on Sacramento County’s Local Agency Formation Commission and the Association of California Cities Aligned with Public Safety, and also sits on the City’s Retirement Board of Authority.  Sarah represents California’s 1st Senate District on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Folsom State Prison and California State Prison, Sacramento. She is a past chair of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, former Folsom Library commissioner, three-time PTA president at Russell Ranch Elementary, and former board member of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District Education Foundation.

As Mayor, Sarah holds office hours every Thursday from 2-5pm at City Hall and encourages residents and stakeholders to drop in to ask a question, share a concern, or say “hello”.  She holds mobile office hours one Saturday each month at various locations in the city.

Sarah is a licensed life and health insurance agent and runs her family's insurance agency. She grew up in Fair Oaks, attended public schools in the San Juan Unified School District, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento.

Her husband, John, is a physical education and adaptive physical education teacher. They have been married over 20 years and have two children.
