The Code Enforcement Division provides a community service that improves the quality of life and environment in Folsom by keeping neighborhoods clean, safe and desirable. Code Enforcement officers respond to complaints, investigate violations and obtain compliance of the Folsom Municipal Code.

Residential Garbage Can Placement
As regulated under Section 8.32.100 of the Folsom Municipal Code, the City has prescribed rules regarding the placement of residential containers for solid waste, recycling
Street/Sidewalk Encroachments
As regulated by Chapter 12.20 of the Folsom Municipal Code, no object (structure, fence, basketball hoop, sign, etc.) is to be placed in the public right-of-way. Furthermore, it is unlawful for any person to perform any type of construction, or to place an encroachment of any kind, within the public street right-of-way without first having obtained an encroachment permit from the City’s Community Development Department Engineering Division.
Vehicle Code Violations
As regulated by Chapter 10.16 of the Folsom Municipal Code, it is unlawful for any vehicle to be parked on any highway or roadway within the City for a period of 72 or more consecutive hours. In addition, it is unlawful for any illegal vehicle (not registered, abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or in inoperative condition) to be parked/stored upon any private or public property (not including highways) within the city for a period in excess of 10 days unless the vehicle or parts thereof is completely enclosed within a and not visible from the street or other public or private property.
Nonregistered Vehicles
As regulated by Section 17.57.030G of the Folsom Municipal Code, automotive vehicles or trailers without current registration, shall not be parked or stored in the required front yard or required street side yard of any lot in any residential district.
Storage/Parking of Recreation Vehicles and Utility Trailers
As regulated by Chapter 10.20 of the Folsom Municipal Code, the City of Folsom regulates the parking and storage of recreational vehicles and utility trailers. A recreational vehicle or utility trailer shall be considered stored when it has been left standing upon a street without having been moved at least one mile within a seventy-two-consecutive-hour period.
Parking on Lawns
As regulated by Section 10.20.470 of the Folsom Municipal Code, it is unlawful for any vehicle, recreational vehicle, utility trailer, as well as other modes of transportation, to be parked or stored on a front yard, side yard, or other landscaped area visible from the public
