Instant Solar Permitting Process & Fee Incentives

 The City of Folsom has launched an enhanced Instant Solar Permitting process through Symbium, designed to significantly streamline residential solar and battery permit approvals. This system aligns with California’s SB 379 requirements and enables automated plan review with approvals issued in as little as 24 business hours for eligible projects.

What’s New

The updated process simplifies the application workflow and reduces redundant steps:

• Applicants now complete and submit their solar permit application directly in Symbium, including required documentation such as the SMUD Interconnection Approval Letter.
• After submission, applicants pay permit fees separately through eTRAKiT.
• Once the permit is issued, all final documents—including the approval documents and permit card—are available for download.

This improves on the previous process, which required multiple uploads and duplicate entries across both Symbium and eTRAKiT systems.
