Training is an integral part of the fire service. The Folsom Community depends on the Fire Department to be decisive and operate with safety, efficiency, and compassion. The scope of the fire service mission has evolved over the years to include EMS, Haz Mat, Fire Investigation, Fire Prevention, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, and the list continues to grow. The Training Division strives to support highly capable and professional fire department members.

The Training Division oversees the following:

• Recruitment and Candidate Selection.
• Fire Academy.
• Promotional Testing. 
• State Fire Certification.
• California Incident Command Certification System (CICCS).
• Federal and State Mandated Training.
• Instructional Agreements with local Community Colleges.
• California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (Cal-JAC).

The Folsom Fire Department houses two classrooms, a four-story training tower, auto extrication vehicles, and rescue props. The Folsom Fire Department participates regionally as a member of the Sacramento County Training Chiefs Committee, the California Incident Command Certification System (CICCS) application review committee, and the Sacramento Regional Standard Operating Guideline Committee.
