Rodeo On, but Cattle Drive Cancelled

The Folsom Pro Rodeo will celebrate 55 years of family entertainment and fireworks. But for the welfare of the public, the Folsom Cattle Drive which kicks off the rodeo celebrations has been cancelled due to forecasted heat Wednesday.

“We feel the safety of the public especially children and seniors who love to watch this annual tradition is vital so we are addressing this issue proactively,” said Folsom Pro Rodeo Grand Marshal,  Marshal Crossan owner of Folsom Chevy and a member of the Board of Directors.

The forecast is calling for calmer temperatures on Thursday, July 2, as the Folsom Pro Rodeo kicks off with performances July 2, 3 and 4. The Folsom Chamber of Commerce invites fans to celebrate the holiday by enjoying rodeo action, motocross and spectacular nightly fireworks in a perfect summer evening temperature.

Rodeo fans can stay cool this year with Big Fogg, a 15’ x 15’ high pressure, water conserving, inflatable mister.  Fans can also enjoy additional shade and access to the tree-covered Folsom City Park. Reserved seat holders are reminded they can enjoy the shade in the park as long as they like and their prime viewing seats will be waiting for their arrival.

“We are providing opportunities for our fans to beat the heat and enjoy the Folsom Pro Rodeo which has been a Folsom tradition for 55 years,” said Crossan. “There might even be a squirt gun fight or two in the stands.”
