Seven sections of Folsom trails were repaired and resurfaced this summer, providing a safer, smoother path for walkers, joggers and cyclists. More than 1,000 lineal feet of asphalt trail had been lifted and broken due to tree roots adjacent to the trails. The trails were removed, and copper root barriers were installed to prevent future root damage. This technique prevented nearly 25 trees from being removed. The City of Folsom will begin an annual trail surfacing maintenance program that addresses the most needed improvement areas.
