Preliminary applications for a temporary permit to display and sell "safe and sane" Fireworks in the City of Folsom may be filed with the Fire Chief, between February 29 – March 26, 2016 @ 4:00 pm.
No permit to sell “safe and sane” fireworks shall be issued to any person or business entity except nonprofit organizations or corporations organized primarily for veteran, patriotic, welfare, civic betterment or charitable purposes. Any such nonprofit organization or corporation shall be required to demonstrate that it has a bona fide membership of at least twenty (20) City residents, and has been actively operating within the City for a period of one (1) year prior to the date of application. All resident information must be submitted as part of the preliminary application.
The maximum number of permits that may be issued shall be pursuant to the Folsom Municipal Code Chapter 9.36.
Due to the on-going drought conditions in the local area, the City Manager may, with the advice of the Fire Chief, declare the existence of extreme fire danger conditions on any given day and issue an order prohibiting the sale, use or discharge of any fireworks within the City of Folsom until such danger abates.
In the event the number of qualified organizations applying for permits exceeds the number of permits allotted, a drawing by lot of those qualified organizations shall be conducted by an authorized fire department representative in the presence of the City Clerk, on April 7, 2016, at 4:00 p.m., at the City of Folsom, Council Chambers, 50 Natoma Street.
