Folsom Goes for the Gold

Cyclists and trail enthusiasts are invited to join the city’s quest to achieve the ranking of Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community, awarded by the League of American Bicyclists.

The League of American Bicyclists is seeking input from community members to assist in determining Folsom’s ranking. The online survey considers factors like how frequently bicyclists ride, accessibility of bike paths and bike safety measures.  Results of the survey will also assist the city by providing important data for the Bikeway Master Plan update.

Only four of California’s 57 Bicycle Friendly Communities have achieved the Gold Level status. Folsom is currently ranked a Silver Level, an honor that formally recognizes the city’s commitment to bicycling as a safe and viable alternative to automobile use, community health and wellness, recreation, congestion mitigation and air quality improvement. Achieving a Gold Level designation will enhance grant opportunities to expand Folsom’s treasured trail system, and strengthen the city’s economy through tourism and business attraction and retention.

The deadline to complete the survey is September 15. Take the survey online at
