Ron Phillips Retires as Folsom Fire Chief

Folsom Fire Chief Ron Phillips announced his plans to retire on December 30, after 35 years of California fire service and 14 years with the City of Folsom. Phillips was appointed chief in November 2010 after serving as Folsom’s fire marshal and deputy fire chief from May 2002. During his tenure, Phillips worked to maintain and improve emergency services in the community during difficult economic times. He has also been instrumental in regional emergency management and fire and rescue services.

Folsom City Manager Evert Palmer announced the appointment of Dan Haverty as interim fire chief of the department, effective immediately upon Phillip’s departure. Recruitment for a permanent fire chief is underway. Haverty is a 30-year fire service veteran, and was the City of Folsom’s fire chief from 2007 to 2010.
