Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS) Volunteers Sought

Volunteers with the Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS) program assist the Police and Fire Departments with various functions. CAPS volunteers can be seen driving around town conducting vacation checks or patrolling parking lots as extra eyes and ears for the Police Department. They are also commonly seen helping with public education and safety fairs, working at the front counters, assisting with traffic control during parades and DUI checkpoints, and leading the city's Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch and Dog Walker Watch programs. The first step to becoming a CAPS volunteer is to complete the 11-week Citizens Academy. Applications for the 2018 academy are now available on the City's website and in the lobby of the Folsom Police Department.
