The City of Folsom recently analyzed water and wastewater rates for residential and commercial customers. A mailer with proposed rate adjustments was mailed on May 18, 2018, in compliance with Proposition 218.
At the Tuesday, May 22 City Council meeting, City of Folsom’s Mayor requested staff to conduct additional analysis of all City utilities, including water, wastewater and solid waste, as well as allow for further public outreach.
A public hearing on proposed adjustments to water and wastewater rates, scheduled for Tuesday, July 10 at 6:30 p.m., has been canceled to allow for further analysis and additional public outreach and input.
Moving forward, the City of Folsom will review all utility rate funds, and a workshop will be held at a future date to obtain public input on a rate analysis for all three utility services—water, sewer and garbage.
The proposed rates outlined in the original mailer include operations, maintenance and capital replacement of existing infrastructure. The infrastructure costs south of Highway 50 are paid for by the developers and/or landowners.
