The Folsom City Council selected Kerri Howell as mayor and Sarah Aquino as vice mayor at the December 10 special city council meeting. The one-year terms are effective immediately.
“I am deeply honored and grateful to be selected as mayor of the City of Folsom and to serve the community I love and have called home for more than 30 years,” said Howell. “I look forward to working hard on behalf of our residents to ensure Folsom is the premier city to live, work, and raise a family.”
Howell was elected to the Folsom City Council in November 1998. She served as mayor in 2012 and 2014, and as vice mayor in 2002, 2006, and 2017. She is a past chair and a current city representative on the Sacramento Transportation Authority governing board. She also chairs the Folsom-Sacramento-El Dorado County Rail JPA and Folsom Lake College Foundation Board. Kerri is a past chair of the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District Board. In addition to her City Council activities, Kerri is also president of Atlantic Consultants, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in civil and corrosion engineering consulting, located in Folsom. She is an active member of Folsom Rotary Annes.
Aquino was elected to the Folsom City Council in November 2018. She served as a member of the Board of Education of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District from 2014-2018. She serves on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Folsom State Prison and California State Prison, Sacramento. She is a past chair of the Board of Directors of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce, former library commissioner for the City of Folsom, three-time PTA president at Russell Ranch Elementary, and former board member of the Folsom Cordova Education Foundation. She is a licensed life and health insurance agent and is vice president of her family's insurance agency.
