New Traffic Management Center at City Hall

A new Traffic Management Center at City Hall allows traffic engineering staff to monitor traffic signal operations throughout the city in real-time, make real-time adjustments of the signals and provide immediate response for any malfunctions to the traffic network system.

In addition to the new Traffic Management Center, the Public Works Department is continuing to add more intelligent transportation system features and upgrades along Folsom’s main arterials. By the end of 2019, the Traffic Management Center will have connectivity to 90 percent of the entire system. Upgrades to the system include cameras to provide real-time conditions, traffic controller upgrades enhancing signal timing and coordination, and time-in-motion sensors to monitor traffic flows and alert staff of congestion so they can make real-time adjustments to ease traffic.
