Water Safety Tips & Free Life Jacket Loaner Program

As the weather warms up, many Folsom residents head to lakes and rivers to cool down. Here are a few tips from the Folsom Fire Department to help you stay safe this summer:

  • Always wear a life jacket and ensure it fits properly
  • Learn how to swim
  • Never swim alone
  • Always watch children
  • Never use rope swings or jump off of bridges
  • Be cautious of currents and rocks under the water
  • Only swim in designated areas
  • Call 911 immediately if someone is in trouble or drowning

The Folsom Fire Department’s Life Jacket Loaner Programprovides Folsom residents with free daily and weekend rental of life jackets for all ages of children and adults. The life jackets are available at Folsom Fire Station 35 at 535 Glenn Drive; borrowers must provide a valid driver’s license.
